Teaching

So far, I have taught a variety of course at Missouri State. Below, courses are organized by the most recent and frequency.

Mammalogy (Fall 2014–2023) – Includes lecture and lab components, as well as field data component. I now co-teach the lab and field data component with Giorgia Auteri.

Statistical Methods for Biologists (Fall 2016–2018; Spring 2020–2023) – Lecture course that covers the basics of inference and estimation, and uses the Whitlock & Schluter text.

Experimental Design (Spring 2020, Fall 2020–2023) – Lecture and lab component that emphasizes various advanced methods of inference and implementation with R.

Game Management (Fall 2015, Spring 2017, 2019, 2021) – Lecture course that examines applied population dynamics and harvest of game species. It has not been offered recently because of my appointment with the Bull Shoals Field Station.

Population Ecology (Spring 2016, 2018, 2020) – Lecture and lab course that covers the theoretical models associated with population dynamics and community ecology. I haven’t taught it in awhile because of my appointment with the Bull Shoals Field Station; Giorgia Auteri taught the course in Spring 2023.

Reproducible Analysis (Grad seminar; Fall 2017, Spring 2021–2022) – Grad seminar that emphasized best practices for coding, version control, and such.

Computational Ecology (Spring 2017, 2019) ; Spatial Ecology (Spring 2015) – These were variable content courses designed for graduate students that wanted to learn R scripting and analysis in context of non-traditional analyses.

Biology in Your World (Spring 20152018) – Undergraduate survey course that was fun to teach.
